Light For The Future Ministries
September 2020 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Family,
Welcome to our NEW and Improved newsletter! We are SO excited that our 501c (3) has been approved with the IRS. Our tax-exempt status has brought new changes! We have created a new website and we are EXTREMELY excited about it. Please check it out at www.lightforthefuture.org. Now that we have our tax-exempt status, you can now donate directly to our ministry through our website. Please feel free to share our website with your church and friends who might be interested in what we are doing!
We were thrilled that our volunteers, Gwen and Darren, opened up their home to Yeimi and Vero. These girls have been staying with Gwen and Darren for 6 weeks and have been learning English through total immersion! Each morning, the girl participate in a devotion in English. Also in the afternoons, the girls have 2 hours of English classes with volunteers in America via zoom. They enjoy watching American sitcoms and church services in English.

Vinicio and his siblings and cousins

Vinicio's house after the mud slide
Sadly, this week Vinicio, 10-years-old and one of the children in our English program, lost his house after 8 hours of rain which caused a mud slide. Vinicio shared the home with his parents, grandmother, his brothers, and his cousins.

A blessing came, when we had a special friend donate some money to purchase some clothes for Vinicio and his family.
Vero and Yeimi wanted to help shop for the family. These girls, who also live in the dump, were SO excited about shopping for them! They were thrilled to personalize some card for each member of Vinicio’s family. The girls also participated in delivering the items to the family. This REALLY touched us that these girls, who have so little themselves, were so excited about helping this family that had lost EVERYTHING!
The family with the clothes and shoes that were bought for them
On our web page, we are collecting funds to help Vinicio and his family. They have moved in with another family member. There are 14 people living in a two bedroom shack. We will do what we can to continue to help this family.
Prayerfully consider how you can help Vinicio and his family. Read more about his story at: https://www.lightforthefuture.org/mudslide
We are very excited about the upcoming changes to our ministry. Stay tuned for more information about that, coming soon. Until then, may God continue to bless you and keep you and your family safe, during these uncertain times!
Dios te Bendiga,
Richard and Melissa Jefferson
